Monthly Recap: May 2016

Number of Books Read
I read (well, including one DNF ) 18 books in May, including two 5 star reads (which I'm not sure has ever happened if you don't count re-reads of series).  This is pretty great since I had two trips (neither of which involved flying, which I love for the uninterrupted reading) and also had visitors one weekend (which resulted in little to no reading).  Also, I won the appellate argument that I mentioned last month!

Hot Cowboy Nights (Lucky Penny Ranch, #2)
Sleepless in Manhattan / Midnight at Tiffany's Bonus
Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories
Amanda Lester and the Pink Sugar Conspiracy (Amanda Lester, Detective, #1)
The Island House: A Novel
Dear Fang, With Love
Summer of Supernovas
Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly, #2)
Death Angel
The Weekenders
Every Exquisite Thing
Troublemaker
The Versions of Us
The Girl from Summer Hill (Summer Hill, #1)
Alice and the Fly
Tone Deaf

The Unexpected Everything

    5. You had an amazing month, Eva! And 2 5 stars reads! I love when that happens too.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on I'm Thinking of Ending Things. The more I think of that book though, the more frustrated I get. I gave it a 4 stars at the time, but I might lower it to a 3.
Yay for your fictional crush being from Summer of Supernovas. The boy was all swoon! :)
Have a great month in June too! :)

    9. Ahhh last month was when I read 18 books! This month of May I only read 15, and I think I only had one 5 star read.. I think... I can't remember if it was only one. Anyways, it was for ONE TRUE LOVES which was so beyond amazing!
I saw Sleepless in Manhattan in a newsletter and I've been wanting to read it! I just added it to me Goodreads because apparently I hadn't added it *shakes head* I'm very forgetful.
I'm also interested in I'm Thinking Of Ending Things. The cover looks so chilling as well as the synopsis. If you read it, write a review!!! I want to know your thoughts on it.
Have a good month of June :)

    18. *high five* Nice job! I had a fairly productive May as well. I think it's because it rained here for about 3/4 of it, so I wasn't feeling particularly motivated to do anything else. Surprisingly, we only had one book in common last month, but I do have several of these books on my TBR.

Here's hoping June is as great!

    19. I also read 18 books! And I had one 5 star read, which is still great for me. But I didn't have any trips or visitors, so you win :-P And I don't know what the appellate argument is, but congrats on winning it!

    20. Wow, I am in awe of your reading month! I typically read about 6 books a month so the fact that you read 3X that many kind of boggles my mind. :) And I'm so excited to see Dear Fang With Love was one of your 5 star reads!! I've had it on reserve at the library and just this morning received the email that it's available to be picked up. So I'm headed there right after work today. Now I'm more excited for it than ever!

I love this trope, sub-genre, setting: My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend

I Love This Trope, Sub-Genre, Setting is a new feature on my blog in which I discuss a trope, sub-genre or setting that I love and tell you about books that are shining examples of said trope, sub-genre or setting.  Feel free to play along and please let me know about your favorite books in this realm and whether you like this trope, sub-genre and/or setting as much as I do! Today I am spotlighting the trope of:  My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend , which I would define as any book where the heroine either has a crush on or falls for her brother's best friend or her best friend's brother. I have to confess that I love this trope in nearly all of its iterations!  I have a younger brother so I never got to crush on any of his friends but it's fun reading about that and it's equally as fun as reading about falling for your best friend's brother -- instant sisters!  I know there are a ton

Conversations With Myself (& Hopefully You): ARC Greed

This discussion is inspired by my feelings lately when reading and reviewing ARCs versus the feelings I had when I requested those same ARCs: ARC GREED ARC greed -- have we all experienced this?  What I even mean by this term is that I sometimes feel overwhelmed when looking at Netgalley and Edelweiss and  I sometimes over-request, if only because I can!  I get greedy when I see all the new and shiny ARCs available and I will sometimes request things that have even a hint of interest for me, not necessarily focusing only on those books that I really, really want.  The problem with this over-requesting and with getting greedy with requesting (and receiving) ARCs is when it comes time to read and review these ARCs.  Last month and this month, I have looked at my ARCs with a release date in each respective month and I just haven't wanted to read any of them.  I need to start asking myself -- If I was immediately approved for this ARC, would I read it right thi
