Rec' Me Something Good! (1)

So last week one of my absolute favorite bloggers,  Nereyda at Mostly YA Obsessed , posted her first Rec Me Something Good , in which she asked for recommendations for fun (i.e. no drama) NA reads.  The idea is simple but perfect -- you describe the type of book you're in the mood to read (based on genre, author, etc.) as well as books you've previously read and enjoyed (or not enjoyed) in that genre, etc. and let your readers recommend something they think you will like based on the category!  I have been in the mood for something specific so I am (with permission) stealing this idea from Nereyda so you can recommend something good to me today! What I’m looking for: I am in the mood to start a series in which the characters do not get together in the span of one book -- so, a true series not the new "series" that everyone seems to be writing that are truly just a string of books about every character under the sun from the first book (I'm looking at you...

Waiting on Wednesday: I Was Here by Gayle Forman

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine , that spotlights upcoming releases that you are eagerly anticipating. Today, I am waiting on:   I Was Here  by Gayle Forman !! From Goodreads : When her best friend Meg drinks a bottle of industrial-strength cleaner alone in a motel room, Cody is understandably shocked and devastated. She and Meg shared everything—so how was there no warning? But when Cody travels to Meg’s college town to pack up the belongings left behind, she discovers that there’s a lot that Meg never told her. About her old roommates, the sort of people Cody never would have met in her dead-end small town in Washington. About Ben McAllister, the boy with a guitar and a sneer, who broke Meg’s heart. And about an encrypted computer file that Cody can’t open—until she does, and suddenly everything Cody thought she knew about her best friend’s death gets thrown into question. . Gayle Forman just breaks my hea...

Waiting on Wednesday: Just One Night (Just One Day #2.5) by Gayle Forman

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine , that spotlights upcoming releases that you are eagerly anticipating. Today, I am waiting on  Just One Night (Just One Day #2.5)  by Gayle Forman ! From Goodreads : After spending one life-changing day in Paris with laid-back Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter, sheltered American good girl Allyson “Lulu” Healey discovered her new lover had disappeared without a trace. Just One Day followed Allyson’s quest to reunite with Willem; Just One Year chronicled the pair’s year apart from Willem’s perspective. Now, back together at last, this delectable e-novella reveals the couple’s final chapter. This is one of my favorite series and I am so excited for one tiny glimpse into Willem and Allyson finally coming together!   Just One Night  is scheduled for release on May 29, 2014, and you can pre-order HERE  for just $0.99! What books are you waiting on this Wednesday?? ...

TOP 10 YA BOOKS OF 2013

1.   Things I Can't Forget (Hundred Oaks #3)  by Miranda Kenneally Without question, my favorite YA books of 2013! I loved the story, the complexity, the struggle of the characters and, basically, how Miranda Kenneally was able to perfectly capture how to get over yourself sometimes. This series is PHENOMENAL.  Seriously.  I'm already ready to read this one again. Full review here 2.  Origi n (Lux #4)  by Jennifer L. Armentrout  Not what I was expecting but everything I always wanted from this series!  I cannot wait to read Opposition (Lux #5) but I do NOT want this series to end -- JLA is amazing!! 3.   Flat-Out Matt (Flat-Out Love #1.5)  by Jessica Park The short companion novella to my favorite book of last year was simply perfect.   Full review here .  4.   Just One Day  and  Just One Year   by Gayle Forman Beautiful, beautiful series by Gayle Forman about se...

Top Ten Books I'd Recommend To a New Adult Fan

Top Ten Tuesday  is hosted by the fab ladies at  The Broke and the Bookish !  Today I am spotlighting the Top Ten Books I'd Recommend to a New Adult Fan !  I have read a lot of books in this genre, which I loosely define as books set in college and/or concerning characters 18+.  Below are the books I love the most in this genre: 1.  There is no one better than Jessica Park when it comes to NA in my opinion!   Left Drowning is one of my top three books for this year and Flat-Out Love was my top NA pick for last year -- Flat-Out Matt was the perfect companion book! 2.  I just finished the first two books in the All for the Game series by Nora Sakavic and I could not put either book down!  These are not love stories but they are gritty and told from a unique male POV.  The first book The Foxhole Court (All for the Game) is free for kindle and I highly recommend the series! 3. ...
