Today I am spotlighting the sub-genre of:  Cozy Mysteries , which I would loosely define as any mystery, usually a murder mystery, solved by an amateur sleuth.  These books are more thoughtful than scary.  This is one of the best definitions I've seen!  I have to confess that I love a good cozy mystery series!  I've actually started listening to a lot of cozy mystery audiobooks lately and they are so soothing.  Bonus points if good food is included!  I know there are a ton of books that I'm missing/haven't read so please let m...

Today I am spotlighting the trope of:  Second Chance Romance , which I would loosely define as any book where a couple is reunited after a long separation, sometimes from childhood.  The BEST in this trope is, of course, Persuasion by Jane Austen - so good! I have to confess that I love this trope in nearly all of its iterations!  I love it when a couple wants to reunite and/or has a second chance after a break-up. Today I am spotlighting the sub-genre of:  Scandinavian Crime Thrillers , which I would loosely define as any crime thriller and/or mystery written by a Scandinavian author and that very likely takes place in a Scandinavian country. So everyone knows about Stieg Larsson and Jo Nesbo but I wanted to highlight some of my other favorites in this sprawling sub-genre.  I just love the setting, the voice and the stoic sense of isolation in most of these as well as reading (often in this sub-genre) about police procedure in various countries.  ...

Today I am spotlighting the setting of:  Libraries and Bookstores , which I would loosely define as any book that largely takes place at a library or bookstore or involves characters that work at a library or bookstore. What could be more lovely to a book lover than a book with characters that also love books?!  I love this mix of genres with this setting -- cozy mystery, contemporary romance, UF, YA, romantic suspense, sci-fi.
