Review: Summer of Supernovas by Darcy Woods

Summer of Supernovas by Darcy Woods Blurb from Goodreads : When zodiac-obsessed teen Wilamena Carlisle discovers a planetary alignment that won’t repeat for a decade, she’s forced to tackle her greatest astrological fear: The Fifth House—relationships and love.  But when Wil falls for a sensitive guitar player hailing from the wrong side of the astrology chart, she must decide whether a cosmically doomed love is worth rejecting her dead mother’s legacy and the very system she’s faithfully followed through a lifetime of unfailing belief. My Review: First I've got to warn you that this involves a definite love triangle between Wil and two brothers -- I don't think that's alluded to in the summary but I know it's one of those things some people avoid.  I must also tell you that, although I usually don't go for love triangles, this one didn't bother me.  Putting that information aside, I really ...

Rec' Me Something Good! (1)

So last week one of my absolute favorite bloggers,  Nereyda at Mostly YA Obsessed , posted her first Rec Me Something Good , in which she asked for recommendations for fun (i.e. no drama) NA reads.  The idea is simple but perfect -- you describe the type of book you're in the mood to read (based on genre, author, etc.) as well as books you've previously read and enjoyed (or not enjoyed) in that genre, etc. and let your readers recommend something they think you will like based on the category!  I have been in the mood for something specific so I am (with permission) stealing this idea from Nereyda so you can recommend something good to me today! What I’m looking for: I am in the mood to start a series in which the characters do not get together in the span of one book -- so, a true series not the new "series" that everyone seems to be writing that are truly just a string of books about every character under the sun from the first book (I'm looking at you...

Top Ten Characters You'd Like To Check In With

Top Ten Tuesday  is hosted by the fab ladies at  The Broke and the Bookish ! 1.  Hands down, my number one choice would be Lizzy, of course!  This is why I read so many re-tellings that pick up from P&P -- Only Mr. Darcy Will Do and Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife are two of my favorites! 2.    I would have to check in on my favorite character from my favorite childhood series, Sleepover Friends !  I always liked Lauren the most because she was athletic and loved to eat! 3.  Even though it would be a bit insane, I have to check in on all the characters from The Secret History , my favorite book of all time. 4.  I would love to read about the amazing woman I know that Brenna Blixen became -- this series is so good and so underrated!! 5.  More Kenny and Savannah, please!  They are still my favorite Troubleshooters couple! 6.  Oh Jemima!  Even though the ending of this book was perfe...

Top Ten Books That Should Be In Your Beach Bag

Top Ten Tuesday  is hosted by the fab ladies at  The Broke and the Bookish ! 1.  Every single book by Elin Hilderbrand is the perfect book for your beach reading!  They are all set on Nantucket (or nearby) and usually have the most idyllic summer scenes.  My favorite of hers is The Blue Bistro .   2.     The Silver Strand series by Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt -- no reason necessary!! 3.  Even though the Rock Chick series is set in Denver, they are so good, so funny and you will read them so quick, which makes them perfect beach reads! 4.  Rosalind James' Escape to New Zealand series is probably my favorite contemporary romance series out there right now!   Just This Once is the first book but the entire series is great for beach reading -- all set in NZ and involving hot rugby players!! 5.  Jennifer Crusie's books are more of my favorite contemporaries and Crazy For You is a ...
