I love this trope, sub-genre, setting: Political Romance!

I Love This Trope, Sub-Genre, Setting is a new feature on my blog in which I discuss a trope, sub-genre or setting that I love and tell you about books that are shining examples of said trope, sub-genre or setting.  Feel free to play along and please let me know about your favorite books in this realm and whether you like this trope, sub-genre and/or setting as much as I do! Today I am spotlighting the sub-genre of:  Political Romance , which I would define as romance in which one (or both!) of the love interests is a politician, works for a politician or is involved in politics in some manner! Maybe it's just me but I LOVE politics!  This sub-genre of political romance is a fun twist on the typical billionaire/movie star/sports star/rock star sub-genre. I have read and loved all of the books above and there is some variety in them -- some are also military romance or romantic suspense, some are NA, some are YA.  O...

Review: Candidate: A Love Story by Tracy Ewens

Candidate: A Love Story by Tracy Ewens Blurb from Goodreads : If only life were as simple as choosing between Toaster Strudel and Fruit Loops. Katherine Galloway is two years divorced and still living out of boxes. Between her brothers (cops that work with her ex) and her mother’s constant reminders that her clock is ticking, Kate is trying to hold it all together. But the truth is, she’s eating Toaster Strudel for dinner, and living and breathing her PR career. When it comes to public relations, there’s nothing she can’t handle . . . or at least that’s what she thinks.  Grady Malendar, the only son of United States Senator Patrick Malendar, has a reputation as a playboy who likes to have a little too much fun. The senator is running for re-election and needs Grady’s help with the youth vote. But what they want is a new and improved, headline-free Grady, so they hire a PR firm. Grady is willing to participate in the dog and pony sh...

TOP TEN ADULT BOOKS OF 2014!

1.    Mud Vein  by Tarryn Fisher What can I say?  Tarryn Fisher tops my list AGAIN, for the third year in a row.  And there's a reason why:  no one writes like she does.  No one messes with your mind, heart, and life like she does when you are reading one of her books. 2.  The King's Men (All for the Game #3)   by Nora Sakavic In a close second to Mud Vein (which should tell you just how amazing this series is . . . ) is the final book in the All For The Game series by Nora Sakavic .   I've never read anything like this series and the final book was absolutely incredible -- so intense!! 3.   Night Owl (Night Owl #1)   and   Last Light (Night Owl #2)   by M. Pierce There is as much mystery in these books as there is in the author of these books.  LOVE LOVE LOVE.  My review of Last Light HERE . 4.     How to Kill a Rock Star  and  God-Shaped Hole ...

Review: No Ordinary Bloke by Mary Whitney

No Ordinary Bloke by Mary Whitney Blurb from Goodreads : I’m not a philosophical kind of bloke, but I know something about luck. A childhood on the wrong side of advantage will teach you that. It’s all a matter of chance. It’s both your circumstances and the chances you take. So I've always been a gambler and a ladies man — they love me and I love them. Now I've found one like no other — an American, Allison Wright. When I met her, the fates were on my side, but too soon I learned the odds were against me. My Review: No Ordinary Bloke is a companion story to Mary Whitney's Beside Your Heart series   (review of book 3 of that series,  Forever Your Heart , here ).  This book is about Adam's cousin, David, who is introduced in that series although you need not read the series before this book as it is a stand-alone.   What can I say about David?  Certainly sometimes he is crass but it was pretty awesome reading his story and ...

Blog Tour & Review: Forever Your Heart (Beside Your Heart #3) by Mary Whitney

Forever Your Heart (Beside Your Heart #3) by Mary Whitney Blurb from G oodreads: I’m a journalist—Adam Kincaid, BBC reporter, to be exact, so I’m not going to bury the lead. I’m about to see the woman I never got over.  I know that because I’ve been back in America for years now, and I still don’t date American girls. My dad would say I’ve come to my senses, sticking to my own British patrician kind, but that’s crap. Mum, the psychologist, would more wisely say it’s my unresolved issues around Nicki. My teenage years are long behind me, yet my guilt over her remains. So I’ve avoided all things Nicki, though the irony is she’s the one avoiding me. Maybe if we see each other, we can both move on. Could she ever forgive me? Can you forgive yourself when you hurt someone you love?  But please, don’t answer yet. I’ve jumped ahead of the story, and as a reporter, I should give you more background to get to the root of it all. So let me tell you ...
