Review: The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead

The Indigo Spell (Bloodlines #3) by Richelle Mead

Blurb from Goodreads:

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch--a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood--or else she might be next.

Populated with new faces as well as familiar ones, the Bloodlines series explores all the friendship, romance, battles, and betrayals that made the #1 New York Times bestselling Vampire Academy series so addictive—this time in a part-vampire, part-human setting where the stakes are even higher and everyone’s out for blood.

My Review:

I know this will sound crazy at first but I've seriously never been a big Adrian fan. I've thought he was funny and frustrating and, at the end of The Golden Lilly, I began to like him, but I never before found him swoon-worthy. In the VA series, I couldn't get over wanting, wishing and hoping for Rose and Dmitri to be together and, consequently, I did not want Adrian and Rose together, at all. In the Bloodlines series, Adrian has grown on me but I still didn't really get his appeal other than as a good, if sometimes exasperating, friend. The Indigo Spell has changed all my previous notions and I get it now -- Adrian Ivashkov is definitely, definitely swoon-worthy!!!

Although I seriously love this series, even more than I ever loved VA, this book has really made me invested. I am so excited to see what will happen next for Sydney -- she has grown so much and I like her more (although I won't lie, the first half of the book Sydney frustrated me to no end regarding Adrian!) with every page. I cannot wait for more secrets to be revealed -- we know the Alchemists are up to no good and I can think of no better person than Sydney to take them on full force. It will be pure torture waiting for the next book, especially because . . .

***SPOILER ALERT*** Ending this review with a big time SQUEE that Adrian and Sydney are finally together, finally happy, and ready to take on the world. Except for the minor problem of Sydney's sister showing up . . .

“I don't care if you say we can't be together. I don't care if you think I'm the most evil, unnatural creature walking on earth. You can think whatever you want, go whatever you want. I'm going to just go on loving you, even if it's hopeless.”

Review: The Lost Letters from Martha's Vineyard by Michael Callahan

The Lost Letters from Martha's Vineyard by Michael Callahan Blurb from Goodreads : A tantalizing novel of two women bound by blood but divided by a long-buried secret, and the island that holds the key to the fateful summer that changed everything forever. In 1959, Hollywood ingenue Mercy Welles seems to have the world at her feet. Far removed from her Nebraska roots, she has crafted herself into a glamorous Oscar-nominated actress engaged to an up-and-coming director… Until she shockingly vanishes without a trace, just as her career is taking off. Almost sixty years later, Kit O’Neill, a junior television producer in Manhattan, is packing up her recently deceased grandmother’s attic, only to discover a long-lost box of souvenirs that reveal that the grandmother who raised her and her sister Claire was, in fact, the mysterious Mercy Welles.
