#Georgiethon Recap

Today I am recapping the best read-a-thon EVER of the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead.  Specifically, over the past three weeks, a group of us has read (or re-read) the six books in this wonderful series!  Thank you so much to Nereyda and Megan for putting this all together and for having this vision!

You can read more about #Georgiethon here but, basically, the past three weeks have been awesome.  I first read the Georgina Kincaid series over two years ago.  I remember devouring it the first time and it has since stuck in my mind as one of my all-time favorite series and Seth as one of my top book boyfriends!!  So I was super duper excited when Nereyda and Megan announced the read-a-thon because when I read the series the first time, I had no one with whom to squee/wail/discuss the books.

First, I loved the series even more on a re-read.  I picked up things I'm sure I didn't pick up the first time I read the series because I wasn't as focused on finding out the conclusion of the series and could enjoy (or agonize over) every book as I read it.  Second, it was so awesome to find other people reading the books at the same time and to have Neredyda's and Megan's discussion posts every week to see if other people were having the same feelings I was regarding the books.  I think when all of us finished book #3 and then started reading books #4 and #5, we were all in serious pain.  Richelle Mead really knows how to twist the knife!!  But the ending?  I think this series is one in which I have absolutely no criticism about the epilogue (usually pointless IMO).  The epilogue is PERFECT!  I love Seth!  and Georgie!

Nereyda has informed me of some old chats with Richelle Mead that give us all a glimmer of hope for a Jerome/Carter spin-off.  How amazing would that be?!  Especially if Roman and maybe Kayla were included??  I would love that!  For now, I am seriously content with the re-read of this series and I loved being able to read it with other bloggers.  I am definitely going to be on the look-out for other read-a-thons -- there may no better way to read a complete series!

Have you ever participated in a Read-a-thon?
If so, what did you think?

Have you read the Georgina Kincaid series?
If not, you really, really, really should!

Thank you Nereyda and Megan!!

  3. I just finished the series a little while ago. Now I'm sad...
Happy because the ending was perfect (except for the Roman thing) but sad because I already miss the characters.
This was fun! Maybe we can do one for another series. I hear the Fever series is really good too....

I love this trope, sub-genre, setting: My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend

I Love This Trope, Sub-Genre, Setting is a new feature on my blog in which I discuss a trope, sub-genre or setting that I love and tell you about books that are shining examples of said trope, sub-genre or setting.  Feel free to play along and please let me know about your favorite books in this realm and whether you like this trope, sub-genre and/or setting as much as I do! Today I am spotlighting the trope of:  My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend , which I would define as any book where the heroine either has a crush on or falls for her brother's best friend or her best friend's brother. I have to confess that I love this trope in nearly all of its iterations!  I have a younger brother so I never got to crush on any of his friends but it's fun reading about that and it's equally as fun as reading about falling for your best friend's brother -- instant sisters!  I know there are a ton

Conversations With Myself (& Hopefully You): ARC Greed

This discussion is inspired by my feelings lately when reading and reviewing ARCs versus the feelings I had when I requested those same ARCs: ARC GREED ARC greed -- have we all experienced this?  What I even mean by this term is that I sometimes feel overwhelmed when looking at Netgalley and Edelweiss and  I sometimes over-request, if only because I can!  I get greedy when I see all the new and shiny ARCs available and I will sometimes request things that have even a hint of interest for me, not necessarily focusing only on those books that I really, really want.  The problem with this over-requesting and with getting greedy with requesting (and receiving) ARCs is when it comes time to read and review these ARCs.  Last month and this month, I have looked at my ARCs with a release date in each respective month and I just haven't wanted to read any of them.  I need to start asking myself -- If I was immediately approved for this ARC, would I read it right thi
