Review: Code Word Romance by Carlie Walker

Blurb from Goodreads:
Two exes.
One mission.
A trip she'll never forget...

Max is just your average girl. She works odd jobs, has a soul-crushing amount of debt and just happens to have an uncanny resemblance to Europe's youngest female prime minister, Sofia Christensen . . .

So when the prime minister receives a credible death threat, the CIA approaches Max with a a life-changing amount of money if she pretends to be Sofia on the prime minister's annual Italian trip.

It would be a dream if it weren't for those pesky assassins and Flynn, Max's ridiculously hot handler - the man who broke her heart years and years ago.

With her life now on the line, Max knows she has no choice but to lose herself in the role. But losing her heart to Flynn again? Now that's a risk that she isn't willing to take . . .
My Review:

The premise of this was more fun than the execution.  Although predictable, I was hoping for a bit more fun and a bit more steam.  Still, it delivers on its description and is a fast read.  The setting could have been utilized slightly better but I think this book will work for a lot of readers.  Good luck!

Code Word Romance comes out next week on March 18, 2025, and you can purchase HERE.
We swerve around a Fiat 500, whose driver has the audacity to obey the speed limit. Gail drives like she's fleeing the scene of a crime, paying very little attention to trivial things like stoplights, stop signs, or traffic laws. In the passenger's seat, I thread my fingers through the grab handle, holding tight. "Just thinking. Overthinking"
"Don't do that."
"Sorry."
"Also, don't apologize," Gail chides. "Prime ministers never apologize."
"Seems like maybe they should," I mutter, considering one or two in particular.

I love this trope, sub-genre, setting: My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend

I Love This Trope, Sub-Genre, Setting is a new feature on my blog in which I discuss a trope, sub-genre or setting that I love and tell you about books that are shining examples of said trope, sub-genre or setting.  Feel free to play along and please let me know about your favorite books in this realm and whether you like this trope, sub-genre and/or setting as much as I do! Today I am spotlighting the trope of:  My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend , which I would define as any book where the heroine either has a crush on or falls for her brother's best friend or her best friend's brother. I have to confess that I love this trope in nearly all of its iterations!  I have a younger brother so I never got to crush on any of his friends but it's fun reading about that and it's equally as fun as reading about falling for your best friend's brother -- instant sisters!  I know there are a ton...
