Cross My Heart, I Hope You Die by Mallory Arnold

 This started out so interesting as kind of a darker John Tucker Must Die.  But the actual thriller part was convoluted and stomach turning.  I figured out the twist pretty quickly and it left a bit to be desired.  Such promise but the ending was not great. Hope you will have better luck!

It wasn't supposed to happen like this. 

The idea had been mine, a burden that now sits as heavily on my shoulders as the mountain of snow weighing down the cabin's roof. I stumble through the darkness with only the weak light from my phone to guide me, and jam my toes into an inoperable radiator. Pain shoots through all the bones in my foot, but nothing hurts more than knowing that if that heater doesn't come back on soon, we'll all be frozen by morning. 

I continue to zigzag down the hall, a bloodhound without its nose as I strain to see through the dark. Finally, I approach the door and move my hand down to the knob. I've arrived at the mudroom. It's in the back of the cabin, and the last time I poked my head in to see what was inside, all that resided there was a harmless washer and dryer, a shoe cubby, and coat hangers. 

But now? I hope there's one more addition.
