Top Ten Book Characters That Would Be Sitting At My Lunch Table

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the fab ladies at The Broke and the Bookish!

1.  Hands down, my number one choice would be Olivia from The Opportunist by Tarryn Fisher.  Let's be honest, though, I would not mind at all if Caleb joined her!

2.  One of my latest favorite books is How to Kill a Rock Star -- although I love Eliza, I really want Loring to sit at my lunch table!

3.  Um, every single one of the Rock Chicks please!!!!

4.  Rosalind James' Escape to New Zealand series is my favorite contemporary romance series out there right now and there isn't a main character in any of the books that I wouldn't love to sit with although I'd probably get along with Hannah best.

5.  If anyone would be a great and patient companion, it would be Anne Elliot.

6.  Kat and Daemon from the Lux series by JLA -- probably because there are so many epic lunch room scenes in this series and I love both characters.

7.  I don't know anyone that hasn't read and loved the Georgina Kincaid series by Richelle Mead who didn't also want Georgina to be their new best friend, myself included!

8.  Blue and all of the Raven Boys from the series of the same name by Maggie Stiefvater are so interesting that I think they would ensure that lunch was never boring.

9.  Kate from Things I Can't Forget by Miranda Kenneally is the most like me when I was in high school and there is comfort in that.

10.  And just to keep things really interesting, Senna from Mud Vein would have to be at my lunch table.  What can I say?  Tarryn Fisher writes the most complex, infuriating and damaged souls out there.

  6. I didn't think of Georgina! I'd love the whole crew from that series at my table! Carter, Peter, Cody, Seth... they all grew really dear to me :)
I admit I haven't read many of the other books aside from Obsidian and Persuasion, but I just added How to Kill a Rockstar because it sounds awesome!

Thanks for stopping by yesterday :)

  7. I forgot about Anne! Persuasion is my favorite Austen, mostly because of how I related to her. I love Kat as well. I also had to check out How to Kill a Rock Star after seeing the cover. Thanks for visiting!

I love this trope, sub-genre, setting: My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend

I Love This Trope, Sub-Genre, Setting is a new feature on my blog in which I discuss a trope, sub-genre or setting that I love and tell you about books that are shining examples of said trope, sub-genre or setting.  Feel free to play along and please let me know about your favorite books in this realm and whether you like this trope, sub-genre and/or setting as much as I do! Today I am spotlighting the trope of:  My Best Friend's Brother/My Brother's Best Friend , which I would define as any book where the heroine either has a crush on or falls for her brother's best friend or her best friend's brother. I have to confess that I love this trope in nearly all of its iterations!  I have a younger brother so I never got to crush on any of his friends but it's fun reading about that and it's equally as fun as reading about falling for your best friend's brother -- instant sisters!  I know there are a ton

Conversations With Myself (& Hopefully You): ARC Greed

This discussion is inspired by my feelings lately when reading and reviewing ARCs versus the feelings I had when I requested those same ARCs: ARC GREED ARC greed -- have we all experienced this?  What I even mean by this term is that I sometimes feel overwhelmed when looking at Netgalley and Edelweiss and  I sometimes over-request, if only because I can!  I get greedy when I see all the new and shiny ARCs available and I will sometimes request things that have even a hint of interest for me, not necessarily focusing only on those books that I really, really want.  The problem with this over-requesting and with getting greedy with requesting (and receiving) ARCs is when it comes time to read and review these ARCs.  Last month and this month, I have looked at my ARCs with a release date in each respective month and I just haven't wanted to read any of them.  I need to start asking myself -- If I was immediately approved for this ARC, would I read it right thi
