Review: Hi Five (IQ #4) by Joe Ide

Blurb from Goodreads:
Isaiah Quintabe, the genius PI who combines book smarts, street smarts, and enough blistering action to melt the pavement of East Long Beach, is back with a new adventure. Fresh off the beating he took at the hands of a gang of ex-Abu Ghraib thugs working as paramilitary contractors, IQ is determined to build a life for himself with his new girlfriend, Grace. For once, he wants to be normal--a normal guy, with a normal PI business, doing the best he can.
But this is IQ, and trouble is never far behind him. Joined by his faithful band of fast-talking, sharp-tongued partners, Deronda and Dodson, the cases are wild, the mysteries twisty, and the driving fast.
My Review:

I've really loved this series so far -- IQ is one of the most well developed, thoughtful and complex characters I've ever read about. Although this wasn't my favorite in this series, it was the first that accurately described multiple personalities/alters in an interesting and respectful, well researched way.  I look forward to reading what happens next.

Hi Five comes out later this month on January 28, 2020, and you can purchase HERE.  Not my favorite in this series but I still really recommend this series -- totally unique and always fun.
Dodson remembered one notable encounter. Deronda was at the service window and not in a good mood. A young couple arrived and the woman said, "We don't eat meat, eggs, gluten, or soy. What should we get?"
And Deronda said, "The fuck out."

Comments

  1. As stated by Stanford Medical, It is really the ONLY reason this country's women live 10 years longer and weigh on average 42 lbs lighter than we do.

(By the way, it is not about genetics or some secret diet and really, EVERYTHING to about "how" they are eating.)

P.S, What I said is "HOW", not "WHAT"...

Conversations With Myself (& Hopefully You): Should There Be ARCs?

First of all, thank you SO much for reading my very first "discussion" post .  The response was so amazing and I am so grateful to each and every one of you that took the time to read it.  I would like to preface my next discussion post in the same way -- nothing is new and I'm sure that this topic has been discussed by someone, somewhere but this is what is on my mind: SHOULD THERE BE ARCs? Truly, not everything I think about and write about is regarding Maggie Stiefvater's epic series, The Raven Cycle , but it just so happens that this discussion post will mention this series, too.   Those of us that are obsessed with this series (like me) know that there will not be any ARCs for the highly (HIGHLY) anticipated last book of this series, The Raven King . There will be no ARCs (advanced reader copies). Y'all are just going to have to trust me. https://t.co/xYDv0q1tXN — Maggie Stiefvater (@mstiefvater) December 5, 2015 Oddly, I think this ...
